Dorothy L. ("Grandma Dot") Forsberg, 83, Fort Atkinson
Dorothy L. ("Grandma Dot") Forsberg, 83, of Fort Atkinson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2010, surrounded by her family at Fort Memorial Hospital.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Maywood, Ill., to Charlie and Edna (Royalty) Overhulse. She graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood in 1944.

After high school, she worked at Chicago Rivet to save tuition money for nursing school. She graduated from Swedish Covenant Hospital's nursing program in Chicago in 1948.

Dorothy married Harold E. Forsberg on June 17, 1949, in Maywood, Ill. The wedding was a double service with her sister, Helen (Dr. Robert Gulley).

The family lived in the Chicago suburbs until moving to Fort Atkinson in 1966. Dorothy worked as a nurse at Fort Memorial Hospital and Fort Atkinson Medical Center. She continued to volunteer at the hospital after she retired in 1997.

Dorothy's faith in Jesus Christ was evident in her life. She was actively involved at Faith Community Church where she served on the Women's Mission Society, helped start the AWANA Program, taught children's Sunday School, volunteered at Faith Community Christian School, and did a variety of other activities.

In the community she volunteered at Red Cross blood drives, helped with adult respite care and danced with the Twilight Tappers. (Dorothy lamented that she was too short to dance with the Rockettes!)

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Harold; four children, Pam (Dan) Pundsack of Platteville, Mark (Mary Ann) of Howell, Mich., Dr. Craig (Darlene) of West Salem, and Caryn (Ken) Borchardt of Fort Atkinson; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Dr. Robert) Gulley of Longview, Texas; sister-in law, Betty Anderson of Fort Atkinson; two half-sisters, Percita Wright of Ashley, Ind., and Norma Krouse of Adrian, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother-in-law and a half-sister.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson on Friday, July 23, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastors Dan Pierce and Don Christianson.

Lunch will follow at the church.

There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Faith Community Church.

Arrangements will be handled by Nitardy Funeral Home, www.nitardyfuneralhome.com
